Bhairavi Aradhya Deka

I grew up in Hajo, close enough to the river to know exactly what it takes away. Every year the water comes, and every year I watched the same families start again from nothing — a mother carrying her children through chest-deep water, an old woman waiting on a broken embankment for someone, anyone, to come.

Work took me far from home, to sets and cities and a film career I am grateful for. But the moment the floods returned, I found I could not sit still and be a spectator to my own people. So I went back with whatever I had — my hands, my savings, and friends who said yes.

This foundation is that yes, made permanent. We will feed and shelter whoever is in need, however we can. And we will put our strongest effort behind our women — because I know what it means to stand on your own feet, and I want every girl in Assam to know that feeling too.
